Frequently Asked Questions
What do I wear to swim in the sea?
The vast majority of club members wear normal swimming costumes/ trunks. A small minority wear wetsuits. We can not advise on wetsuits and suggest you visit a wetsuit/ surfing retailler if you are interested in this.
How long do you spend in the water?
This varies depending on the temperature of the sea, from a few minutes in winter to half an hour or longer in the summer.
Where is the club located?
We are on the prom at Whitley Bay. Click on the Directions page for details.
Can children join?
Children are welcome as long as they are accompanied by a responsible adult who will also be swimming. We do not provide lessons or supervison for children.
Can I train for long distance events with you?
We are not a long distance/ triathlete club. Whilst you are most welcome to swim with us, please be aware that we do not provide support staff or lookouts.
Do you swim all year round?
